I previously owned an Asus infinity with 10 inch screen until it died on vacation and I grabbed the smaller 8 gb fire during the one day sale. I could not get used to the small screen or lack of storage so here I am with the new 10 inch fire. If you liked your fire 7 you will love this. The 32 gb is sufficient itself for downloading tons of books, music, and a couple of movies and games but when you pair that with the ability at last to use a memory card (and it’s about time Amazon makes a version that can do this) the storage is enough for even most power users! Set up is a breeze just follow the onscreen instructions. Within minutes out of the box I was surfing the web, checking my email and posting on Facebook. After charging the battery to full I streamed a one hour tv show from Netflix and when I checked afterwards the battery was still at 95 percent. I am writing this review on it right now. If you have prime you can download a movie to watch later without needing your wifi which is a big plus for me as we are in storm season here so when the power goes out I can at least watch a movie.
I wanted to like this tablet…ended up somewhat disappointed

I bought this tablet for its size, economical price point, and the ability to watch content offline. And it offers exactly that…but falls short on performance parameters. If you’re price sensitive and are looking for a value tablet, large screen, and the ability to watch content offline, this is a great device to get. However, if you already have an earlier Kindle like the HDX 8.9 or even an earlier version of the Fire, I recommend keeping your tablet since this device wouldn’t really be a worthwhile upgrade. I have been disappointed with several operating shortcomings of the device.
I am delighted.and should get several years out of this Big tablet esp w screen mirror &. now google play is on it. !!

Keeps Getting Better, Especially for Comic Readers

This is my 4th Kindle Fire, I also have the first generation, an 8.9” HDX and the new 6”. The first thing that impresses is how thin and light this new model is, despite being the largest Fire to date. I love the more narrow, widescreen design of the screen, perfect for watching videos and reading books in portrait mode. Anyway, before I get carried away gushing, I’ll just list my pros and one or two cons, to make this easier to read and save time.
I couldn’t be more happy. It performs better than the other 10 inch …

UPDATE 12/22/2016: I liked it well enough that I picked up a second one for my wife for Christmas, so she would stop hijacking mine to read her books. There’s a HD mounted on the wall in the bedroom, but she still prefers to watch Netflix on this while laying in bed. No idea why, but if the wife is happy, I’m happy. Happy Holidays everyone.
Awesome except for one issue with the Display Sleep Limitation.

I love it! It’s huge and I have already watched a tv show on it, so much better with that large screen. I bought the Micro sd card to go with it so I am downloading a ton of videos, books, apps, and games to it. The reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is the Settings where the longest you can have it on without activity is 30 minutes. I literally have hundreds of tv shows and movies that I need to download onto it and I would LOVE to do a download que, plug it in and let it automatically do it’s thing. I can’t because it stops after 30 minutes of not activity. I loved doing this on my other kindles. I would set it up for the night and let everything download while I was sleeping. I would also do the same thing at my work since the wi-fi is good there, but with this dumb 30 minute max for time out I am constantly baby-sitting my kindle to keep it downloading.

I would have given it a 3-1/2 but it wouldn’t let me. I had to replace my 8.9 HDX due to battery and charging problems. After numerous calls and one with a service rep whose instructions caused me to lose everything I ordered the Fire 8. Great picture and graphics but screen way way to small. Returned the 8 waited a couple weeks and ordered the Fire 10. The 10 is no comparison to the 8.9. Am finally getting use to the fact that it operates more like apps on a smart phone. The first few days it froze several times but once I learned to close out apps not being used and keeping cache clear have had no problems. I’m struggling but adapting better everyday. Since the 8.9 is no longer being supported by Amazon would have had to buy an upgrade eventually to get program updates which included games. I do like the bigger screen. Be patient and you will be okay.
Great tablet great price but with some issues.

I really like the Fire HD especially for the price I paid. On cyber monday I got the 32 G for 199 and using my chase visa i got 10% off.

I have an older Fire HD 8.9 but decided to get the HD 10.l because of the larger screen and I thought it might be time to upgrade. But I’m disappointed in the device for three main reasons:
A Lot Left to be Desired!

So, you are considering purchasing this HD 10? The first question you need to ask yourself is what are you going to do on it? If you wish to purchase this device for reading books, listening to music and sending emails; in other words, for basic performance, then buy one. However, if you wish to play games, surf the web, read newspapers, the performance of this tablet will SADDEN you! It has a way to go to get to other tablets before I can compare them; having said that, this device is also not nowhere near in price as the ones I am thinking of comparing it to. FOR THE PRICE, this device is GREAT; however, I am of the opinion that I would rather fork out a couple of hundred more dollars for an OVERALL BETTER PERFORMING device! This unit is not internet compatible as I would wish, it’s just not! I love the graphics and resolution; the images are sharp and crisp and the color is spectacular! The touchscreen needs improvement. It is not as responsive as other tablets. I like the feel of the device; it is not too awkward and heavy. Again, for the PRICE, it is going to be difficult to beat. I just hope the next KINDLE is much faster with internet browsing and download speeds; it’s a real issue for me. One last thing, Amazon is not crazy about the idea of you installing another browser on this Fire. Why is that? The “Silk” browser is not as personal as I would like. I should have FULL options to acquire and install other browsers. The only one they have available, at the time this review was written, is Opera. (See my review for that.)
